In this live video, monopole cellular tower upgraded with circular phased array antenna, which is ideal for 5G millimeter wave.
The antenna has 360 degree coverage. The array refers to multiple antennas that are connected around the circular structure, and which can function as a single beamforming antenna. The phased refers to a digital controller that allows the antennas to be directional to the target(s) of signal. It should be noted the smaller the antenna the higher the signal frequency of the antenna.
In 2027, the millimeter wave with frequency between 24 - 100 GHz is expected to go live according government spectrum planning.
This tower is located in residential/ commercial area including schools and places of worship of Calgary NE, Alberta, Canada.
